Top 107 Pet Blogs

24 Paws of Love

An actual family of dogs, divided into two packs, whose love outweighs the division that unites all of us. Father dog, Brut, and Momma Dog, Silver, had a litter of 10 pups and we kept two of the puppies, Zappa and Fiona; these four we call the Back Dogs. Blaze and Chance (also two pups from this litter), known as the Front Dogs, were returned to us abused, neglected, and unaccepted by the Back Dogs. We ended up separating the house, yard, and our lives to accommodate the two packs. As we work with each dog, we are slowly working towards integrating the two packs.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
Friendship. True, pure, solid friendship. A pet can never lie. They wear their hearts on their fur and have a true devotion that can never be matched, but it betters us as humans to try.

8 Paws and 2 Tails

My blog heading says it best: "8 Paws and 2 Tails is a pet blog dedicated to all things cat and dog related with particular emphasis on one family's experiences dealing with medical issues, hospice and palliative care, coping with grief, home feeding, and our pet's quirky behaviors." I would add that the blog also includes valuable information about rescue organizations, shelters, urban interactions with wildlife, interesting news bits, and celebrity pet items.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
Pets keep us young, they are our allies in life. Pets help us to become empathetic and attain a responsible maturity - when you want to pull the covers over your head and do nothing, you will get out of bed to take care of your pet. When you are sad, your pet will be there to comfort you.

A (Greyt) Dog Blog

My blog follows my time pre- and post-college, and the work with dogs I've done and am doing. Since adopting two greyhounds, I've transitioned the blog's focus to them, but I'll still write about our adventures together or about subjects that are applicable to all dogs.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
The greatest benefit to pet ownership for me has something to do with motivation and responsibility. To care for a pet appropriately and make them happy and healthy is quite time consuming, but of course well worth it in the end. In any case, it's quite a change from college life where suddenly it's not just "me me ME" all the time; I have to plan each and every day around them to make sure their needs are met, but this keeps me active and on a schedule!

Click here to see the post A (Greyt) Dog Blog submitted especially for the Top Pet Blogs Award Competition about young pet ownership and the things college kids should consider when thinking of adopting a pet, specifically some of the troubles the author went through owning a dog.

Pets offer us unconditional love and calmness; a true friendship. The only thing they need is our support. Respect them and we respect ourselves. We provide the food, pets provide their love!

A Blog from the Dog House...

A Blog from the Dog House focuses on all things animal. You’ll find posts about animal health, safety, and welfare, along with cute, funny, and amazing photos/videos of animals from around the web.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
I never knew the power of having a companion animal until I was faced with health issues during my first year of law school. With so much stress in my life, my dog was the best way to relax and take time away from the rest of the world. While my classmates were stressing out and wishing they could take a break, I always had my pup to cuddle and play with to keep me grounded. And of course, she was a great study partner.

You're never really alone if you have cats. This is wonderfully true about all pets. But obviously cats are the best. More specifically, mine.

American Dog Blog

The American Dog Blog is a fun place to learn about dogs. We love to share stories about our own dogs - Sephi, Maya, & Pierson. And we enjoy offering information on training, dog breeds, health tips, and handling certain behavior issues. We also do an occasional dog book review and pet product review.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
My dogs bring me so much joy and laughter. From the wiggly butts and wagging tails when I come home to the silly antics at playtime, my dogs always find a way to brighten my day. Life can take some difficult turns but somehow their happy grins and comforting paws always keep the glass looking at least half full.

Ask Fisher

Fisher the cat occasionally receives letters from other pets who have issues they want resolved. The blog is about life from Fisher’s perspective, throwing in a little humor to lighten her research on pet behavior and safety. When she writes advice for pets, she always adds tips for them to give to their people. She also reviews pet products and books about animals, and writes about animal issues and advocacy.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
Pets continually provide unconditional love to those who care for them. They instinctively know if you have a fever, are upset about your job (or finals), and if you are just plain lonely. Animals can make you laugh, talk baby talk, and feel needed and loved. According to Fisher, there is no downside of owning a pet.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
I really don't know about owning a pet because I don't have a pet, but I do have a baby brother. I think it is so much fun because I can run and play with him, and it is so much fun to growl and bark with him.

BAD RAP Blog

BADRAP's blog has been reflecting on issues related to pit bulls and pit bull ownership since 2006. Posts cover the full spectrum, from pit bull 'politics' in the animal welfare world, heroes, and programs that are bringing positive change and challenges that the dogs and their owners face in a society that still views the world through the lens of stereotypes. Because it's nearly impossible to discuss pit bulls without mapping trends in the human experience, the BADRAP blog frequently puzzles over the human animal and our roles and responsibilities as the stewards of the canines that live among us.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
Our relationship with dogs stretches back to a time when early man and still-wild canines are said to have first started traveling together. We've benefited substantially from this age-old friendship. Science tells us that living with pets lowers our blood pressure among other health benefits, but contemporary dog lovers are more likely to point out the enjoyment that comes from having a companion who offers unconditional love and a daily excuse to live - playfully - in the present moment together. This experience transcends breed type. At the end of the day, pit bulls are dogs and dogs are a gift we gave to ourselves 30 thousand years ago.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
Exotic pet ownership challenges people to learn and understand unique differences in animals that are so dissimilar to us. Many reptiles and insects provide a glimpse through a keyhole of what the planet could have been like during the exciting Jurassic era, so many millions of years ago. Exotic pets encourage our imaginations to dream, think about possibilities, and to create beautiful new worlds, right in our living rooms.

Having a pet is a wonderful experience. Not only will you have an instant companion, you will also gain a true friend. Someone who will really back you up, cheer you up when you're sad, and always be there to support you and fight for you. Aside from all the great things, a pet parent will also learn to be responsible and disciplined. Bunny's Blog

As you know, my blog is called Bunny’s Blog and it was inspired by Bunny Jean Cook, a mini-lop rabbit who was my companion for nearly eight years. Bunny’s Blog focuses on animals and animal-related causes. I am particularly interested in the area of pet homelessness and pet adoption.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
I believe the greatest benefit of owning a pet is the companionship and unconditional love you receive from them. I have had pets my entire life, but they became especially important to me in my late teens and early twenties. This was the time when I moved out of my mother’s house and into my first apartment. My pet at that time was a cat named Jasmine, who lived with me for 16 years and was a very important part of my life.

Cavoodle Pups

We aim to profesionalize and raise the standards for breeding and buying new puppies. A whole family should be bonded with a puppy before it is even seen in the flesh. We make sure this is done by sharing the breeding process from birth to actual delivery over the 8 weeks we raise the animal, as well as by giving the new family lessons on providing the pup with proper nutrition. Under these circumstances, the new home will be prepared to adopt the puppy as a full new member of the family and love it as such. This bond minimizes the possible chance of dumpage and gives a puppy the potential to have a fulfilling, loved, and disciplined life.

The way we interact with clients and their enjoyment from working with us comes from a puppy's preconditioning for his/her role as a human companion dog, his/her health standard, genetic soundness, temperament, appearance, and devotion. We anticipate that every client encounter will be a happy and pleasant one so that customers will return and refer their friends to us. Our puppies are shipped all over Australia and we currently have up to a 12 month wait for one of our puppies. Though our prices are amongst the highest to compensate for the additional time and effort we invest into our puppies, each has the minimum chance of genetic defects.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
Pets are therapeutic and calming, lower blood pressure, provide devotion, and are faithful friends and companions. Puppies will return love and kindness 1000% precent as a reflection of a new owner's nature and family culture. So many owners tell us that their new dog becomes so much a family member that he/she sleeps on their beds. Retirees who take mid-day naps often report that their companion dog snuggles into them on cold days, putting them off to sleep. A puppy from our last litter was delivered by air on a 13 hour flight, and as a result, its new owner received riducule for purchasing it at such a high price from such a long distance. The new owner wrote to us, "I had expected a good puppy, but had never expected she could be this good." This is another pup that now sleeps on her master's bed.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
The greatest benefit of having a pet lies in taking that first selfless act of saving a pet. As is often reported in the news, the dog or cat then turns around and saves you. Compassion, love, and respect across species is the lesson of the human-animal bond.

Dawg Business

This blog is inspired by my dog, Jasmine. She's been through many medical challenges, some of which, I believe, could have been avoided were her initial health issues properly diagnosed. I realized that simply taking a dog to the vet is not always enough. Not all vets were created equal and it is important to learn how to find a great one. It is also important to recognize and understand the significance of symptoms, understand the medical conditions our dogs might be dealing with, and being able to evaluate treatment options. It is important to know when to seek a second opinion. It is also important that owners should be medical advocates for their dogs. I started the blog to share our experiences and encourage owners to educate themselves.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
There have been a number of studies done on how owning a pet positively impacts physical and psychological health. I also believe that owning a pet puts life in a healthier perspective.

Dawn Kairns and Maggie the Dog

My hope is to increase awareness of animal intelligence, emotions, and the special relationship between humans and animals. This blog covers pet loss, puppy mill awareness, pet health, animal rescue, the spiritual bond between animals and humans, and pets' 'sixth sense' way of reading us. It was born out of my special bond with my black Labrador, Maggie, for whom I wrote the book MAGGIE: the dog who changed my life. My recent "MAGGIE and Beyond" theme adds personal growth and inspiration topics to the blog.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
Animals open our hearts to our own genuine selves, keep us in touch with what is real, and bring us into the present moment. They also help connect us with people at a heart-to-heart level. My precious pets have brought me such joy, love, and connection.

Destructive Puppy!

My blog is a place for sharing the crazy and exciting moments of owning a puppy for the first time. However, it is not all fun and games; owning a dog has many ups and downs and takes a lot of responsibility. Destructive Puppy! takes readers on a journey through the love and fun that happen along the way in Roxy's life; she is one destructive puppy.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
Some people might say that the greatest benefit of owning a dog is being able to train him or her, a feeling of responsibility, or the proud moment when your puppy is finally toilet trained, but I believe that the most amazing part of owning a dog is the love shared with you and the loyalty showed; a dog will love you more than anything. Roxy loves me and I love her, it's as simple as that.

Dog Blog

The Dog Blog has lots of impartial product reviews, in addition to advice, commentary, and news.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
Pets require our care, love, and attention. They get us out of ourselves; we are inundated by messages from our culture to be obsessed with ourselves, but pets counteract all that simply by needing us. When we care for a pet, we put our own needs aside, temporarily at least, by meeting theirs. And that's good for us.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
There are so many, but perhaps the greatest one is companionship. You could say this about any pet, but a dog is the best friend and confidant you'll ever have. He always listens to you, just to hear your voice. He'll smile when you smile, lick the tears from your face, and want nothing more than to be where you are. How great is that?!

Owning pets, and in my opinion, especially guinea pigs, is one of the most rewarding, stress reducing experiences available in our modern life. What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
I feel that the unconditional love you receive from a pet is the greatest benefit. They don't care if you are suffering from the worst hair day, just burned dinner, or washed a pink sock with white laundry. They love you anyway. What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
The absolutely magical quality that our horses possess that make (most of) us better people. For horse people, the simple act of spending time with their horse, be that grooming, riding, grazing, whatever, lifts their spirits and provides necessary perspective. Gracie & Co. Blog

As the inventor of the GracieLoo dog litter box, I blog about the many benefits of teaching a small dog to use a litter box. My Yorkie, Gracie, was the namesake for my business and the GracieLoo. In Gracie's senior years she became handicapped, which compelled me to include blog posts about handicapped dogs and cats. Our spokesdog, Stella, and my first dog, Lucy, were rescued Yorkies and the inspiration behind my featured blog posts for animal rescue and adoption.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
I've never considered myself a pet "owner," because my dogs and cats have been beloved members of my family. As their guardian, I benefit from the gifts of love, laughter, and companionship they offer me. My greatest benefit, however, is returning to them what they have so freely given me. It is in reaching outside ourselves and taking care of others where we sometimes find what matters most in life.

I Still Want More Puppies

I Still Want More Puppies is a blog about pup culture, pop culture, and anything else that strikes my fancy. I strive for humor with a healthy dose of heart – stop by for a smile, a laugh, or a big virtual hug. Warning: I’m addicted to both dogs and pop culture, and cannot be held responsible for any references to Wishbone, Beverly Hills 90210, or Saved by the Bell. The blog’s motto is “Puppies = Serenity Now.” After all, who doesn’t want more puppies?

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
Honestly, it's hard to pick just one benefit. For me, my pup is the one who makes me smile when I'm having a bad day, who snuggles with me when I'm watching TV, and who listens when I talk her ear off. So, I guess the greatest benefit would have to be the companionship and love - a house just doesn't feel right without a pet in it, in my book.

Jan's Funny Farm

The Funny Farmers' blog is a mixture of truth and fiction - the eight cats and dogs type their own posts and they recently fired me for a goofy fur-lebrity contest entry. (I still contend it does look like Bill Gaither but I'm prejudiced.) They sometimes post happy news, sometimes sad. They usually get along, occasionally squabble, and they are in total agreement as to their favorite pastime - picking on me.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
A sense of purpose. No matter how great the physical pain or how dreary life is at any particular moment, they must all be fed, the litter scooped or changed, and the dogs walked/exercised. In exchange, I get lots of purrs, snuggles, and howling serenades.

Louise's Dog Blog

This blog’s purpose is to educate the average pet owner about dogs and puppies, and in doing so, improve the relationship and mutual trust that develops as a result of this knowledge. I encourage the use of humane and animal friendly training methods, which are based on learning theory, but attempt to present information in layman’s terms that can easily be understood by everyone. My personal journey as a dog trainer presents me with new challenges every day, and I often draw on these real-life experiences for my articles in the hope that readers of my blog can benefit from not only my successes, but also my growing knowledge of the many different personalities of the dogs (and their owners) that I deal with every day.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
The benefits of owning a pet are many and varied and it is impossible to isolate one. Pet ownership is beneficial in terms of one’s mental and physical health. Pets provide companionship, they help teach the children of the family compassion and self-control around animals, they are quick to forgive, and don’t hold grudges, in addition to many other benefits.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
There are many benefits to owning a pet and being owned by a human bean. From my point of view as a cat, the benefits are many. For example, if there were no humans in my life, I would be homeless. I would have to scrounge for food, I would have to sleep out of doors when the weather wasn't so great, and I would have to fend for myself. Benefits to my main Bean: head bumps when you least expect them, unlimited purrs, and unconditional love.

It started as a personal blog about my animals in Italy and kind of went from there!

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
Where do I begin! Pets give you unconditional love and a shoulder to cry on, pat, or hug. But I feel the greatest benefit is taking you out of yourself and making you focus on another sentient being which can lift depression, motivate you, and give you a reason to get out of bed every morning. My collegemates and I adopted two kittens from the cat's home when I was a student and I still remember them today, almost 30 years later.

Some Thoughts About Dogs

Some Thoughts About Dogs is focused on improving dog-human interactions, but in a somewhat atypical way. Much of this blog's time is spent reviewing academic articles on dogs, and then interpreting these articles to suggest applications to modern pet owners. That being said, a great deal of time is also spent looking at dog-legislation and examining notes from seminars the author has attended.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
Well, there are lots of benefits listed in the literature regarding owning a pet. Through my personal experience (and some of the literature), I would say the greatest benefit would be opportunities for social interaction. By this I mean pet ownership often means we engage in social institutions we may not otherwise (for example, join a fish keepers' club or go to obedience training with our dog), and sometimes simple things (like taking the dog for a walk) makes us more socially involved. For students, this often gives them the opportunity to do something non-study related - a healthy break!

For children, owning a pet teaches them how to share their time, savings, and companionship with a creature who depends solely on them. Pets help teach us to see the world in a different way, and to value animal life, whether it's wild or tame. When we own an animal, whether it's a cat or a fox or a rabbit or a goldfish, we catch a glimpse of the world through their eyes.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
For me, owning animals not only brings joy to my life, but my cats are rescue cats, so I've saved lives; there's nothing more rewarding than that feeling. My cats are my family and knowing that they're always there is a comforting feeling. Their love is unconditional, non-judgemental and plentiful. They're are my all.

The Retriever, Dog, & Wildlife Blog

This blog examines the story of dogs and people from a variety of perspectives. I examine the natural history of dogs and their history with our species. I try my best to answer the question of what it means to be in a dog and human relationship. I also attempt to deconstruct certain mythologies people have asserted about dogs and our relationship with them in order to shed light on how to make this experience richer for both species. I tell stories about the dogs of my childhood in rural West Virginia, as well as the stories of the dogs belonging to my parents and grandparents, who grew up in the same environment.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
The greatest benefit of owning a dog is to share one's life with a being that allows itself to become nearly human, yet still retains its essential animality. A long walk in the forest with a woods-wise dog is one of the most poignant experiences, for it is nearly a synthesis between a canine's nose and ears and a human's binocular vision. I know that my dog loves me, and I love her. She allows me to see into her life, as I see into hers - though she is by far the more superior observer!

A valuable resource to the average pet owner with a listing of animal assistance contacts and local dog parks. My blog shares my passion for animal welfare, health, wellness, and nutrition. As a Reiki (life force energy) practitioner (healer), I have added articles about alternative methods of wellness and healing.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
Unconditional Love! In working with rescues and owning rescued pets, I have seen many times that no matter what trauma a pet has endured, all they want is love and they will be loyal and loving forever. They provide companionship, smiles, and laughter, and all they want is to be petted or simply near you.

What would you say is the greatest benefit of owning a pet?
We provide exposure regarding house rabbits and their personalities, care, and temperament. Unless a person has actually owned an INDOOR house rabbit, it is hard for the public to grasp how truly delightful and entertaining these beloved creatures really are! They are truly unlike any other animal... personality wise, they are a hybrid between a cat and a dog.
