We'd like to sincerely apologize to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Our technique for compiling the data has many moving parts, and we made a small clerical error leading us to misrepresenting Illinois on the map. We've updated the map to include our corrections, thanks!

eCollegeFinder has gotten some very positive feedback on the recent maps we’ve created. You may have seen our Largest Universities by Enrollment or Highest Graduation Rates maps in recent weeks. Going with the phrase, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, we’ve made another map for your viewing pleasure. Our newest map looks at the “Most Desirable” Universities in each state, judged by which college received the most undergraduate applications in the fall of 2013. Similar to previous maps, using the National Center for Education Statistics’ Database, we decided only to look at schools offering 4-year degrees with housing.

As you can imagine, many of the schools on the list are major State Universities and the most prestigious of Ivy League Institutions. Featuring schools with notorious athletic programs and famous alumni lists a mile long. It makes for a very interesting collection of schools and an awesome looking map of logos! Maybe one day it could be the most prestigious athletic conference in the nation, the Pac-50, but probably not. We hope you enjoy our latest map, we hope you’ll share it with your friends, classmates, and old college pals. If you don’t see your school on the list, maybe it’s time to start recruiting!
