AAS in Medical Assistant
The AAS in Medical Assistant degree program provides a combination of academic theory through general education courses and technical skills through technical courses that are necessary for today’s medical office environment. Graduates will demonstrate “front office” and “back office” skills enabling them to function effectively with clinical and administrative duties.
AAS in Medical Administrative Assistant
The AAS in Medical Administrative Assistant degree program provides a combination of academic theory through general education courses and technical skills through technical courses that are necessary for today’s medical office environment. Graduates will use practical medical business procedure enabling them to function effectively in a computerized office environment.
AAS in Accounting Technology
The AAS in Accounting Technology degree program provides a combination of academic theory through general education courses and technical skills that are necessary for today’s accounting environment. Graduates will demonstrate skills utilizing accounting software and financial decision-making tools enabling them to function effectively in a computerized office environment.
AAS in Administrative Assisting
The AAS in Administrative Assisting degree program provides a combination of academic theory through general education courses and technical skills that are necessary for today’s business environment. Graduates will demonstrate skills enabling them to function effectively in a computerized office environment utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and windows-based applications software.
AAS in Legal Administrative Assisting
The AAS in Legal Administrative Assisting degree program provides a combination of academic theory through general education courses and technical skills through technical courses that are necessary to today’s legal and corporate environment. Graduates will use legal and business procedure enabling them to function effectively in a computerized office environment.
AAS in Network Support Specialist
The AAS in Network Support Specialist degree program provides knowledge in major networking topologies; use terminology specific to this field; install and maintain network components; assess the status of networks; use troubleshooting devices and procedures; operate within the structure of Microsoft Windows 98/2000/NT/XP – based networks and be familiar with Novell.
Accounting
The objectives of the Accounting Program are to provide the student with a fundamental knowledge of basic accounting principles coupled with instruction in typing and business machines. The program objective is to train the student for an entry-level position in such areas as billing, payroll, accounts payable and/or accounts receivable.
Administrative Assistant
The objective of the Administrative Assistant program is to train students in the skills required to obtain entry-level positions such as office assistants, secretaries, receptionists and clerks. Students participate in a one hundred and twenty (120) hour externship experience after completion of their classroom studies.
Early Childhood Education
The Early Childhood Education Program is designed to prepare students for positions as day care professionals. To meet this objective, graduates will demonstrate competencies on how to meet the emotional, social, physical, and educational needs of children by developing and implementing an effective means of interacting and communicating with parents; devising and implementing policies to create and maintain a safe and healthy environment for pre-school children; and effectively applying theories of child development and the methods of learning to the early childhood classroom environment.
General Office Professional
The objective of the General Office Professional program is to train students in the varied skills required to obtain entry-level positions such as clerical support staff, data entry clerks, and receptionists. Students participate in a one hundred and twenty (120) hour Externship experience after completion of their classroom studies.
Legal Secretary
The objective of the Legal Secretary program is to prepare the student for an entry-level position as a legal secretary. Graduates may work in law firms, government agencies, corporate legal departments, and other businesses. Emphasis for the program is placed on legal ethics, legal terminology, and generating basic legal documents.
Medical Assisting
The objective of the Medical Assisting program is to train students in medical ethics, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, insurance billing, use and care of diagnostic equipment, venipuncture, injections, pharmacology, universal precautions, vital signs, CPR, first aid, hematology, EKG, urinalysis, and microbiology.
Medical Office Specialist
The objective of the Medical Office Specialist program is to train students in medical ethics, cardiovascular terminology, basic anatomy and physiology, phlebotomy procedures, EKG procedures, universal precautions, infection control, vital signs, CPR, patient history, and front office such as medical coding and medical office management.
Medical Secretary
The objective of the Medical Secretary program is to train students in medical ethics, medical terminology, insurance coding and billing, medical transcription, vital signs, CPR, patient history, medical office management, patient records management, computerized medical office scheduling and Word Processing.
Nurse Aide
The Nurse Aide program is a comprehensive course designed to teach students the skills and abilities essential to the provision of basic care to patients and residents in hospitals and long term care facilities. Graduates of this program will be able to communicate and interact effectively with patients, assist patients in attaining and maintaining maximum functional independence, while observing patient rights. They will learn how to perform basic first aid, CPR, take vital signs, apply the elements of basic nutrition in meal planning, and follow infection control measures. Additionally, they will be able to apply proper body mechanics in bed making, lifting, and turning patients. Graduates of this program may find entry-level employment as a nurse aide with hospitals and nursing homes.
PC Technician
The objective of the PC Technician program is to prepare students to pass A+ Core and OS certification examinations. They will also be able to identify, test, analyze, and repair troubled hardware areas of a personal computer and troubleshoot software on a PC, which uses Microsoft 98/00/ME/XP operating systems.
Vocational Nursing
The Vocational Nursing Program is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in hospitals, nursing homes, doctor’s offices, home health agencies, and school districts upon attainment of their Vocational Nursing License. To meet this objective, students will meet the educational needs consistent with BNE standards; deliver quality nursing and function successfully in the health care system in long-term, acute, and an outpatient-care environment consistent with BNE standards; meet basic standards in quality vocational nursing consistent with BNE standards; and compete successfully in the workforce.
